Truffle Honey Poached Pears
For an indulgent easy to make dessert Truffle Honey Poached Pears are perfect. You can make with or without alcohol (both are lovely). Add a scoop of vanilla ice-cream for those with a sweet tooth.
Ingredients
• 1 1/2 cups water
• 1 1/2 cups sugar
• 1 tablespoon lemon juice
• 4 firm ripe pears
• 1 table spoon of Truffle honey
Steps
1. In a small saucepan, bring the water, sugar, and lemon juice (the lemon juice prevents the pears browning) to a boil. Simmer for 3 minutes.
2. Peel the pears, being careful to keep the stalk. With a melon baller, core the pears from the base up to keep the pears whole.
3. Put the pears upright in the simmering syrup and cook for 20 minutes over low heat, according to the firmness of the pears. Test with a knife to see that they are tender. Remove from the heat, let cool, then refrigerate the pears in the syrup until completely chilled. Remove the pears and reduce the syrup until syrupy. Refrigerate or serve warm.
4. Serve these delicious poached pears their syrup and a scoop of your favourite vanilla ice-cream all drizzled with warm truffle honey.
Note: You can substitute the water with white, red, or port wine.
Enjoy these lovely Truffle Honey Poached Pears at your next dinner party or for a romantic evening with your partner.
